---

~ note for macOS ~

on newer versions of macOS, the first time you run bitsybox you'll need to give the operating system permission to run the application:

* first, ctrl-click on the app  and select "Open"

* you'll see a message warning you  about running applications  downloaded from the internet -  select "Open" again

* from now on you should be able  to run bitsybox normally by  double-clicking!

~ note for linux ~

the pre-built linux version was built for linux mint (cinnamon) - for other distributions you may need to build from source

Appreciate your work. I am little confused where you get .bitsy game files. I see them on itch.io for browser play, and don't think the creators would mind sharing the file, but only 1 out of 10 includes a download link.

Welcome to Itch.io!

A .bitsy file is actually just a text file. Go to the page of any Bitsy game, right click, inspect element and search the HTML for "exportedGameData". You'll find a massive block of text and comma-separated numbers. You can copy that into notepad, then change the extension to .bitsy when saving. This will only work for vanilla Bitsy games, as modded titles tend to store additional needed scripts outside of this location.

Hope this helps.

This is beyond my dev knowledge to figure out unfortunately, but I have a miyoo mini+ running onionOS and it would be perfect to run bitsy games on.

I checked portmaster but they don't support the miyoo/onionOS so that's out.

Does anyone know what might be involved to get the bitsybox emulator running directly on onionOS? This was as close as I came in the docs: https://onionui.github.io/docs/ports#how-to-add-your-own-ports-for-advanced-user...

Just a fun thought! Back to making games :)

En fera tu un pour gbc et gba

Thank you for this! ❤️

Will there be a update to take advantage of the new features?

thanks for the question! I want to, but I just have to find the time - I'll post in the devlog when I have an update

Is there any chance there'll be an ARM64 port of bitsybox in the next update? Because bitsybox won't work on my Raspberry Pi 400 with Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit.

If I sound standoffish right now, I do apologize in advance for that.

Great tool!!!

Tiny bug report: Whenever there’s a fade transition the colors of the game become darker than before (or brighter, depending on whether it was a black or white fade), as if the transition never fully ends. I noticed this bug on macOs, didn’t test it on windows or Linux.

Thank you!! And thanks for the bug report - this bug is fixed in newer versions of the engine, but this is a good reminder that I need to update bitsybox :)

Did a small demo on how to use Bitsy for my college's Game Design club - everyone really liked it! Excited to see more!

that's awesome! :D

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Please use stripe or Payoneer since it doesn’t use PayPal’s API. I then can use my credit card/Debit card.

(+1)

thanks for letting me know! I've set up stripe, so hopefully that works for you :) let me know how it goes

(+7)

i just love the idea of putting my favorite bitsy games into a little extractable and then passing that around to people like a mixtape

<3 I love that idea a lot!! if you do it I'd love to hear how it goes :D

thanks for the suggestion y'all! I don't think it's something I'd have time to do soon, but I'll keep it in mind for the future :)

no problem

(1 edit)

This is wonderful! Gamepad support! However, when I run it on my Mac I just get a blue screen. What am I missing?

oh no! :( this looks like a bug to me -- let me see if I can fix it!

this issue should be fixed now! :) try re-downloading the mac version and let me know if it works for you <3

yay!! awesome! that's great to hear :D

Also hey! Did you intend for the Windows application to have no icon like this? (pic attached)

(Sending just in case it's a bug and such)

(+1)

thanks! it's not a bug - I just haven't have time to make / set up an app icon yet :) maybe in a future update!

(+1)

I'm confused. What is this?

(+4)
